Camp Meeker Forest Open Space Preserve is located on the ancestral homeland of the Pomo and Coast Miwok peoples—past, present, and future. The nearest federally recognized tribes are the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria and the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians. We acknowledge them as the first people and original stewards of this land.

In November 2024, the Camp Meeker Recreation and Park District purchased approximately 356 acres of surrounding forest from Episcopal Bishop of California / St. Dorothy’s Rest Association, ensuring this remarkable landscape remains in community hands. With miles of beautiful trails to hike and explore, the forest is now protected in perpetuity through a conservation easement with Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space, safeguarding its ecological integrity and public access for generations to come.
