Fire Hose

A conduit for water from a fire hydrant to an engine or from an engine to firefighters.

Storz Hose Coupling

Instead of screwing on, storz hose couplings slide on and have a locking outer ring.


Spanner Wrench

A wrench which aids in tightening or loosening hose couplings.

Personal Spanner Wrench

A small hose wrench which is lightweight and often folds up to fit into a firefighter's turnout coat pocket.


Hydrant Wrench

A wrench which is used to turn on and off fire hydrants.

Flash Light


Ladder

The ladder pictured is a roof ladder, notice the hooks on the top which holds the ladder on steep roofs. Ladders of course can be used from the ground, as well as, be powered versions operated from fire engines.

Gaffe

A gaffe is used to poke holes in roofs and ceilings. It is often necessary to remove smoke and heat from the fire area, or perform visual inspections in attics and crawl spaces, the gaffe is a tool used in that process.


Power Saw

The power saw is used to penetrate roofs for ventillation purposes.

Axe

There are a few types of axes, a pick axe is shown. Axes are multi-purpose tools, and are often the first tool grab off the engine.


Halligan

Halligans are rescue tools, being strong and very durable. They are used for prying, raming, and generally being destructive.

Fire Hose Nozzel

Water nozzles control the rate, volume, and quality of water flowing from a fire hose.


Electric Generator

Generators are portable power sources which generate electricity by using a gas powered turbine. Power is often needed to run lights or ventillation fans.

Hand-held Radio

Radios are needed to coordinate the activities of firefighters, and medical personnel.


High Speed Fan

Ventillation fans are often an efficient way to remove smoke and heat from a buring structure, making the area safe for firefighters, and reducing the damage to the affected structure.
