Engine 5582

1972 Van Pelt Type 1 engine

5582 Left view
5582 right view The engine we have acquired to temporarily replace our type one engine 5580, is a 1972 Vanpelt. The number designation for this engine will be 5582. The vehicle has a 250 hp V8 gas engine and air brakes on an international chassis, with room for three firefighting personnel. There is a 500 gallon water tank and a 1250 g.p.m. water pump. There are four breathing apparatus on this engine. 5582 has three pre-connect lines, a 5 inch supply, a 3 inch supply, and a pre-plumbed monitor. There is also 500 feet of 5” hose, 500 feet of 3” hose (with 3” fittings), and a 5” by 4 x 2 ½” portable hydrant. 5582 should be a good engine to relieve the burden on our current second out engine 5581 until we can upgrade both aging engines.

See "Camp Meeker on tour" to view the fate of 5580.
