The New Engine 5570

Around 95% of 911 calls are for non-fire related emergencies, that statistic holds true for Camp Meeker also. Our first out engine has specific requirements, it should carry at least four personnel and the necessary equipment for an efficient initial response. This engine replaced the Iveco, as it is heavier duty; however, it needed significant modification to change from wilderness engine to a fire engine for a more rural setting.  The main benefit of 5570 is its compactness, a must for the narrow streets of Camp Meeker.

The original box for this rig had two horizontal compartments on the side.  We removed those doors and fabricated a single large compartment, accessed through a top-hinged door opened with air piston.

The compartments on top of the rig were removed.  The inadequate hosebed, second hose reel, two hard-suction lines and personal affects compartments were not needed.  A new hosebed was fabricated.
