On Monday when the leak
occurred, the California Department of Public Health
(CDPH) ordered Russian River Utility to post a
boil-water notice as a precautionary
measure against any potential contamination into the
system. They also required bacteriological samples be taken
over two days to show two consecutive days’ clean test results before
authorizing cancellation of the boil-water notice.
On Wednesday, the CDPH informed us they
needed the tests to be taken after the repair was completed (Tuesday early
afternoon) and that they still need two consecutive days’ clean test results
before canceling the boil-water notice.
Had Russian River Utility been able to submit Monday’s and Tuesday’s samples as
originally requested by the CDPH, the boil-water notice would undoubtedly have
been lifted by Wednesday evening. We
are looking at Monday to lift the notice. However, the
possibility exists to lift it
sometime over the weekend.
